Social communication difficulties can look like limited friendships and challenges making friends, difficulties with turn taking, conversational skills, emotional understanding and understanding others perspectives.
Although not a stand alone diagnosis in the UK, many children have sensory processing difficulties. These seeking or avoiding behaviours are often overlooked or misunderstood instead of being explored further.
If a child is presenting with sensory difficulties, they will likely require opportunities to regulate before engaging in school work, classroom interactions, prolonged activities etc.
